Cheers!

If you've ever received an email from me, you've probably seen my salutation of choice, "Cheers!"

Just recently, I've started saying Cheers at the end of conversations (which is an appropriate use, by the way). I love the reaction it gets. No one ever expects it, except for the occasional Brit.

It just goes to show that little changes to the commonalities of life can often shake things up in a pleasant way. As designers, we should all try to keep this in mind. Cheers!

(Note: I originally wrote this back in April 2002, but it got lost in the shuffle. I think it's still relevant.)

hi Brad
you may have noticed that i made no comment of your "cheers" usage. Up here in AK i find that quite a few people use cheers to end their messages. i thought maybe the same was the case for down in Cali, but i guess not. just thought you might like to know
love you

Brad

Also, every town must have a place where phony hippies meet.

I guess it's the British hangover that makes the use of "Cheers" prevalent in NZ, then. It's pretty much interchangeable with "Thanks", or "OK then". :)

I find it hard to believe that you have not yet received a comment making proper use of the aforementioned salutation. Let's remedy that.

Cheers,
Dan
