Comment tracker

You know what I need? A tool that tracks the comments I’ve made on other peoples’ blogs and notifies me when someone has responded to my comment.

  1. vanderwal says:

You and me both. It really should not be that hard to do. (What I would do for 12 more hours each day).

  2. Ron Zeno says:

Why not build it into the comment mechanism instead. Sure, it won’t solve your individual problem as long as you post where the mechanism is unavailable, but it will give the functionality to far wider audience…

    Something like:
    1) When a user enters a comment, have a selection for notification of further comments.
    2) Whenever a comment is entered, an email is sent to all commenters who indicated they wanted notification.

  3. JC says:

Some blogs do have this functionality built in, but it’s turned off by default. I think it’s more on the order of subscribing to all comments on a post though, not just comments on your reply.

  4. martin says:

couldn’t you do something where you pulled back the comment page repeatedly over a period of time and tracked the changes? if you bolted on a subscribe / unsubcribe interface via a bookmarklet it would be easy to manage, and you could do it to any page, not just a comment page

  5. defZA says:

Such a comment tracker exists by now :) It’s called cocomment http://www.cocomment.com

I use it; it helps a lot to keep track of all comments across the web.

    Cheers,

    David
