Hi there. I'm Brad Lauster.
This is my personal blog. I've been writing here intermittently, since 2000, on the things that catch my attention.
My current passion is working to build a framework for Integral Design. Integral Design is a new way of doing design based on Ken Wilber's Integral framework. As such, you'll find that my recent posts are mostly on this topic.
I'm also interested in brain research and what the implications of recent advances in that space will mean to the increasing power of designers, especially with regard to manipulating human behavior. As such, I'm thinking about how to increase and improve the discourse on ethics and caring in the design community.
My primary career is working with Stanford University as a User Experience Specialist in the IT Department, where I'm building a user experience group focused on interface design, interaction design and software testing. Previous to my work at Stanford, I spent several years programming and designing things for Intel Corp.
I'm also a founding member of the Raskin Center for Humane Interfaces, though I don't do much work with them anymore. The Raskin Center is a group working to develop the humane computing system described in the late Jef Raskin's book, The Humane Interface.
